These are the 10 best national parks for ‘peace and quiet.’ 1 is in Florida

On Monday, MoneyTalks released its list of the top 10 most secluded national parks for “peace and quiet” in the United States.

Of the 63 total national parks in the country, the list examines the ones where visitors are least likely to bump into other tourists.

While half of the top-ranked parks are in Alaska — including the Gates of the Arctic National Park, which placed No. 1 — there was one Florida park that made the cut.

Dry Tortugas National Park was ranked No. 9, with less than 85,000 visitors last year.

The park consists of seven small islands far to the west of Key West, and it’s only accessible by boat or seaplane, which could explain its lack of popularity.

Despite that, the park sports swimming, boating and five different types of sea turtles. It also serves as a nice bastion in case of a zombie apocalypse.
