The Last of Us Episode 4 trailer is here. HBO has previewed the next installment in the post-apocalyptic drama based on the PlayStation video game of the same name, which teases a new character in the form of Kathleen, a ruthless leader of a revolutionary movement in Kansas City. Melanie Lynskey, best known for her appearance on Yellowjackets, will play the role – causing major trouble for our survival duo, Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey). Entitled “Please Hold My Hand,” the episode will be directed by Jeremy Webb (The Umbrella Academy) and is reportedly only 50 minutes long – significantly shorter than the 75 minute runtime of Episode 3. “The Last of Us” episode 4 will premiere on February 6 at 8:30 p.m. IST/ February 5 at 9 p.m. ET on Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Max, respectively.

The trailer for The last of us Episode 4 begins with the introduction of Ellies (Ramsey) new pet peeve – a disgust at the smell of coffee as the couple takes a break outside in the woods. “It smells like burnt shit,” she says to Joel (Pascal), who, unperturbed by her comments, immediately takes a loud gulp from the bottle. Though not specifically mentioned, the coffee must have been strained with a smelly rag or his sock, to Ellie’s credit – since they’ve been out for a while. Episode 3 introduced our unlikely fat-haired ally, Bill (Nick Offerman), who with his partner Frank (Murray Bartlett) in the TV series.

The last of us Episode 4 Trailer puts Joel and Ellie on the road as they continue their journey to Wyoming. Ellie, unfamiliar with driving, struggles to help with map navigation, causing the duo to stop in hostile territory. “This is my second day in a damn car, man. Stop it,” she says, noticing an injured survivor asking for her help. Believing that he is probably bitten and infected, Joel continues to drive the car and crashes into some debris. “This has gone too far. It has to stop,” says an unseen hostage of new character Kathleen (Lynskey) holding a gun to his head. “Where is he?” she asks with tears in her eyes, probably meaning Joel. The trailer for Episode 4 of The Last of Us is then cut to show some action sequences of our duo secretly navigating the run-down town and taking on the last surviving townsfolk.

“We’re going to get through this,” Joel assures Ellie at the end of the Last of Us Episode 4 trailer before taking to the streets. Back to the new character Kathleen, next Twitterwriter Neil Druckman praised her performance on the series. “OMG! You ruined your episodes! I can’t wait for people to see your character!” he saidconfirming that Lynskey will appear in multiple episodes.

Last week, HBO renewed The Last of Us series for a second seasonDruckmann adding that it will investigate the events of the award-winning video game sequel, The Last of Us Part II. Craig MazinThe showrunner and director of Episode 1 of Last of Us also suggested that the sequel could become a two-parter, claiming that the story is “more than a season of television.”

New episodes of The Last of Us stream every Monday Disney+ Hotstarat 8:30am IST in India and on Sunday at 9:00pm ET HBO Max wherever available. Season 1 consists of nine episodes.
