I learned many life lessons while looking at the new record-breaking “Barbie” movie, But nothing sticks in my memory more than Ken himself.
Especially the now iconic one “I am enough” Fluffy hoodie worn by Ryan Gosling during a scene where he (spoiler alert) took over Barbie Land and turned it into his own Mojo Dojo Casa House. When the Barbies take back control of Barbie Land, Ken dons Ryan Gosling’s colorful hoodie that simply says “I Am Kenough”.
As soon as the picture of Ken in the hoodie hit the big screen, my boyfriend immediately whispered, “I need that hoodie,” and all I could do was just shake my head and pop another handful of buttery popcorn into my mouth. I had caught the “Kenergy” and needed to get my hands on this hoodie.
Lucky for us Barbies and Kens, Mattel knew we’d fall in love with the hoodie. Mattel Creations Is Selling a version of the I Am Kenough Hoodiebut the bad news is that the orders will not be shipped until the end of September and some sizes are sold out.
The wait for a hoodie to wear the second time you see Barbie is a massive time, but for me it was worth the wait. The Barbie movie is a cultural phenomenon right now, and having a piece of merchandise that will go down in cinema history is priceless no matter how long you wait.
Hopefully Mattel Creations will sort this out in the next few weeks and start mass producing the coveted hoodie, but until then all I hear is “I’m Just Ken”.
