ORLANDO, Fla. – One in four people will experience a mental health disorder at some point in their lives.
In honor of World Mental Health Day, there’s a free education and awareness event coming up this Tuesday in Winter Park. It was originally set for last month, but had to be rescheduled because of Hurricane Milton.
Friday on Breakfast With Bridgett, Dr. Shainna Ali, a mental health counselor, educator and advocate, shared insight on the importance of mental healthcare for everyone.

Dr. Ali will moderate the panel of experts which will include licensed counselors, professors and other professional health advocates with a wide variety of experience and specialties.
The event is meant to fill a gap for people who are seeking mental health information but might not be able to go to a professional, for whatever reason. They might, instead be going online to self-diagnose.
“I understand if you’re the type of person who you’ve gone to one of your social media platforms in search for a mental health concern,” Ali said. “It’s because many times we don’t have events like this available to turn to about mental health and a lot of people are too worried about seeking a counselor first to seek that help. We need that information gap filled with events such as this.”
It’s all happening at the Center For Health and Wellbeing in Winter Park on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from noon until 1:30 p.m.
