Moderna sues Pfizer over the Covid19 vaccine

Drug maker Moderna said on Friday that it is going to sue its rival and vaccine maker Pfizer and BioNtech. Moderna claims that these two subsidiaries tampered with its patents in order to manufacture Corona vaccines. Patents grant a company exclusive legal rights to its particular product.

“Moderna believes that the patent for Moderna’s mRNA technology was tampered with in the development of Comirnaty, the COVID vaccine by Pfizer and BioNTech,” the company said in a statement.

Corona Booster, who is working on Omicron for Moderna Company, recently received approval from the United Kingdom. Corona in Omicron form is currently the most common all over the world. According to Bloomberg, Spikevax Bivalent Original/Omicron has been approved in the United Kingdom and will soon be available in other countries.

This updated vaccine is effective against two strains of Covid 19. It works on the BA.1 strain that emerged from the Chinese city of Wuhan, as well as the more visible BA.4 and BA.5 forms of Omicron. However, the form is evolving faster than the viral vaccine. Moderna has developed another vaccine based on the BA.4 and BA.5 variants, which the US has requested but has not yet approved.
