The popular messaging app’s monthly subscription service, Telegram Premium, is now less expensive for users in India. The Dubai-based company’s messaging service has formally announced a change in pricing for India, and the updated price is already reflected on the app. The price cut for users in India comes months after Telegram launched a premium, paid tier that included new features and improved functionality in an effort to increase revenue. These features included more channels and accounts as well as faster download speeds.
Users of Telegram received notifications over the weekend stating that Telegram Premium was now discounted in their nation. Numerous unique features are only accessible to premium subscribers. The message informing them of the price change was also sent to a member of the Gadgets 360 staff. The business hasn’t formally stated whether it has lowered the cost of Telegram Premium in other areas.
At Rs. 179 per month, Telegram Premium is now significantly less expensive in India than it was when it first launched internationally in June. Users had to pay Rs. 469 per month up until last week, which is significantly more than the revised price.
The business had previously declared that the service has more than 700 million active monthly users back in June. The service is in direct competition with the well-known messaging services WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, which have active user bases of over 2 billion and 1 billion, respectively. There are no paid subscriptions available right now for either of Meta’s messaging services.
With Telegram Premium, users in India can upload files up to 4GB in size, download files more quickly, and convert voice messages into text, among other features.
