Researchers say evidence of altered gravity may exist within the Earth itself

We can look down at the earth instead. They discovered that under modified gravity, seismic waves travel through the earth at different speeds and in different ways.

Because we know so many of the Earth’s properties so well, such as its mass and moment of inertia, we can reverse that knowledge to use seismic data to constrain modified theories of gravity.

So far, the data do not indicate a need to deviate from Einstein’s original work. But the more tools we develop and the more opportunities we can seek, the better.
