Twitter once again shut down a feature before it was rolled out on a stable basis. Twitter’s collaborative tweeting feature, CoTweets, which launched for testing last year, has been shut down. The microblogging site began testing this feature for select users in the United States, Korea, and Canada in July 2022. However, the function has now been switched off before the stable rollout. CoTweets would have allowed two different Twitter users to tweet together. Twitter has gone through several changes since Elon Musk acquired the social media platform in October 2022, introducing and removing new and old features.

According to the notification of Twitter help pagethe examination of twitters CoTweets is effectively discontinued as of January 31st. Twitter said the CoTweets feature will no longer be available and existing CoTweets will remain visible for one month, after which they will be reverted back to retweets. Once implemented, all existing CoTweets will appear as retweets in the co-author’s profile and in their followers’ timelines.

Twitter rolls CoTweets was tested in July last year and allowed two accounts to tweet together. This feature has been tested on a select few accounts in the United States, Canada, and Korea. However, the company had said they could disable this feature at the end of the experiment and potentially remove any CoTweets created.

The CoTweets feature allows authorized Twitter users to send an invitation to co-tweet with another user. Co-authors’ tweets used to include the profile picture and handles of both co-authors. “A CoTweet is a co-authored tweet that is posted simultaneously to both authors’ profiles and their followers’ timelines,” explains the company’s FAQ page.

Meanwhile, Twitter has received a latest update allegedly The DM icon has been removed from users’ profile pages for several Android and iOS Twitter users. The option to send direct messages has reportedly disappeared for many users on both platforms. The “DM” icon used to appear between the “Follow” and “Notification” buttons on a profile page. Have multiple Twitter users reported the problem on the microblogging site. However, users can still send direct messages by going to the Messages tab and locating the account they want to send a direct message to. It’s still unclear if the missing DM button is a bug or if Twitter officially removed the icon in their latest update.
