Social media platform Twitter has started rolling out a gray tick for verification for government-related accounts and a gold tick for businesses, while the rest of verified accounts will receive a blue tick.
With the rollout Twitter has replaced the blue tick of the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a gray tick. The Prime Minister’s Twitter account currently has 85.1 million followers.
The company announced on Dec. 12 that it will be “replacing the ‘official’ label with one golden tick on some business accounts on Twitter. It had said it would add a gray tick for sovereign and multilateral accounts.
Twitter has started charging $8 (about Rs. 600) per month on the web and $11 (about Rs. 1,000) per month for those who sign up iOS Per Twitter Blue which is to be gradually introduced worldwide.
“Existing Twitter Blue subscribers can upgrade, cancel, or auto-renew their subscription at the new price. Prices may vary by region. We plan to continue offering subscriptions Android soon,” the company announced.
The Twitter Blue service is available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The 51-year-old billionaire previously vowed to stick to the result of a Twitter poll in which 57.5 percent of users voted “yes” for him to ditch the role.
