Twitter CEO Elon Musk has another series of upgrades planned for the platform. On the microblogging site, Tesla’s CEO wrote, “Significant backend server architecture changes have been introduced.”
“Twitter should feel faster” musk added. Scores of Twitter users took to the comments with stunned reactions to the sudden announcement.
“Do we need to restart the app?” wrote one user, along with a meme showing Musk showing a phone with the caption “Have you tried turning it off and on again?”
“Faster exactly how? It always felt the same,” wrote another user.
Another user wrote: “Yes I needed that! Thank you Elon for everything you do.” The update followed an outage of the microblogging platform in the early hours of Thursday.
According to a report by Al Jazeera, the web version of the platform suffered a major outage. It was difficult for many users who were greeted with an error message when trying to log in. More than 8,700 users reported problems with the website as of 7:30 a.m. EST (6:00 p.m. IST), Al Jazeera reported, citing Downdetector, which tracks website outages.
“User reports indicate that Twitter has been having trouble since 7:13 a.m. EST,” Downdetector said in a tweet. The outage comes two months after Elon Musk took over Twitter in a $44 billion (approximately Rs.3.6 billion) deal.
Meanwhile, the multi-billionaire announced on Wednesday that the new Twitter policy will not only follow science, but will also reasonably question science. “The new Twitter policy is to follow the science, which necessarily involves reasoned questioning of the science,” Musk tweeted. Musk said in a follow-up tweet to his first policy statement, “Anyone who says they criticize it doubts science itself, cannot be considered a scientist.”
Meanwhile, Elon Musk recently answered to one of our employees and explained that several major user interface improvements will be available for Twitter in January. Musk is known for experimenting with UI changes on the platform. Such a recent change was the introduction of view counts for tweets, showing views and interaction statistics.
