WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging platform, is constantly introducing new features to provide a better user experience. From E2EE chats to online payments and privacy settings, the app has added many features since its launch in 2009. WhatsApp was recently spotted working on a new feature that would allow users to share images in high quality or in their original quality. Currently, images sent via WhatsApp lose their quality and detail as the app automatically compresses them.
according to a report from WhatsApp development tracker WABetaInfo, Whatsapp is working on a new feature that will allow users to send high quality or original quality images. Currently, WhatsApp automatically compresses images sent in chats to save disk space and bandwidth. The images sent via WhatsApp lose quality and detail. Hence, users choose to send images in document format to keep the original quality. However, the format does not offer a preview.
The new feature, currently in development, will allow users to send a high-quality image by tapping the “Settings” icon in the drawing tool header. Users can choose the quality of the photos they want to send. There will be an option to send them in their original quality, along with automatic, best quality, and data-saving options, the report said.
The update tracker website also shared a screenshot of the upcoming feature, showing a WhatsApp image with a photo quality option under the settings icon. This feature will reportedly only be available to Android users. There is no word on the feature to be added to WhatsApp for iOS and desktop. It’s also unclear when the feature will be rolled out for beta users to try out.
Meanwhile, the instant messaging app, too rolls the ability to push language status updates to select beta testers who have updated the app to version 2.23.2.8. Users can post voice memos up to a maximum of 30 seconds in their WhatsApp status updates. The function is visible in the text status section. Additionally, this feature allows users to discard a recording before recording and sharing it again.
