Meta-owned WhatsApp will reportedly no longer work on older iPhone models as well as Android phones. According to the report, the changes will apply to up to 49 smartphones from December 31. Users with older iPhone models need to update their phones to iOS 12 or later, while Android users need Android OS 4.1 or later to continue using WhatsApp. This means iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c users will no longer be able to use WhatsApp on their phones.
according to a report by GizChina, WhatsApp may end support for iOS 11, Android OS 4 and older as of December 31st. The list of obsolete phones includes 49 smartphones from Apple, Samsung, LG, Huawei and others. iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c users may need to upgrade to newer iPhones iPhone 5s or newer models can be updated to iOS 12 and therefore still support WhatsApp.
To continue using WhatsApp on their phones, users must get iOS 12 and Android 4.1 or later updates. These phones are quite old and most of them are not compatible with new operating systems. Once WhatsApp ends support for these devices, the messaging service will no longer work on them. Here is the list of phones that will reportedly stop supporting WhatsApp starting December 31st.

According to a report, it used to be WhatsApp target end support for iOS 10 and iOS 11 by October 24th. The report suggested that this move could force iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c users to update to a newer iPhone model as it is impractical to install an iOS update that supports WhatsApp. However, the report suggests that 89 percent of iPhone users have switched to iOS 15, while 4 percent of users have iOS 13 or earlier versions installed.
