T-Mobile won the majority of licenses in the Federal Communications Commission’s 2.5 GHz band auction, bidding $304.3 million, the agency announced Thursday.
According to the Federal Communications Commission, the majority of the auctioned spectrum is located in rural areas and will support wireless services in those communities. The auction raised a total of $427 million in gross proceeds. T-Mobile took 7,156 of the 8,017 county-based licenses up for grabs.
