Telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Wednesday announced the launch of its cutting-edge 5G services here. Airtel 5G Plus services will gradually become available to customers as the company continues to build its network and complete the rollout. Customers with 5G-enabled devices will enjoy a high-speed Airtel 5G Plus network at no additional cost until the rollout is more widespread, according to a press release.
“Currently operating in Gomti Nagar, Hazratganj, Aliganj, Aishbagh, Rajajipuram, Aminabad, Jankipuram, Alambagh and Vikas Nagar and some other selected locations, Airtel will expand its network and make its services available across the city in due course,” said Sovan Mukherjee, CEO, Bharti Airtel, Uttar Pradesh.
Airtel customers can now experience ultra-fast networks and enjoy speeds up to 20 to 30 times faster than current 4G speeds, he added.
“The upgraded network will enable super-fast access to HD video streaming, gaming, instant photo uploads, as well as revolutionizing technology changes in education, healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture, mobility and logistics,” said Mukherjee.
Bharti Airtel has launched its 5G Services in many cities across India, while other locations will be covered in the coming months. Last month, Airtel rolled out 5G networks in Patna, Gurgaon, Guwahati and Lohegaon Airport in Pune. The company previously announced the launch of its 5G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi.
It happened last month reported that Airtel 5G unique users have passed the 1 million mark for the telecom operator. The company achieved this milestone less than 30 days after its launch.
In addition, Apple also announced the rollout of official 5G support for iPhone models in India, starting December 13 at 11:30 p.m. Support is available for subscribers with Jio and Airtel connections. 5G compatibility will come in the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 families, as well as the latest iPhone SE model.
