Airtel has reached 1 million 5G users mark in Mumbai: details

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel announced on Thursday that it has surpassed 1 million 5G users on its Mumbai network.

Airtel recently surpassed 10 million unique customers 5G network nationwide. The Sunil Mittal-led telecoms company said it is well poised to cover every city and key rural areas with Airtel 5G services by the end of March 2024.

Airtel’s statement says it has surpassed 1 million customers on its 5G network in Mumbai.

“Airtel was the first company to roll out 5G in the country and Mumbai was one of the first 8 cities to receive the ultra-fast Airtel 5G Plus. Today, Airtel’s 5G services are available in over 140 cities across the country,” it said.

Airtel 5G Plus is currently active in several key locations in Mumbai including Gateway of India, Nariman Point, Film City, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai Metro Junctions of Ghatkopar & Andheri, Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Terminus (CST) among others.

Vibhor Gupta, CEO Mumbai, Bharti Airtel said: “We will continue to expand our network to more locations across the city so many more customers can enjoy super-fast access to high definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chats, instant photo upload and more can .”

Last year in December Airtel had rolls its 5G network services in Jammu and Srinagar. In the same month, the company also rolled out its 5G Plus services in select areas of Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Imphal, Shimla, Lucknow and Pune.

In April 2022, Airtel added according to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), a total of 8.1 lakh mobile subscribers. As of April 2022, the net additions brought the telecom operator’s mobile subscriber base to 36.11 million.
