The Ministry of Telecommunications has asked sector regulator TRAI to tighten service quality standards to curb dropped calls and improve call quality, an official source said on Tuesday.

The move comes after Department of Telecommunications (DoT) feedback collected from the public through an IVRS call on call dropouts, call quality, etc.

“Service quality is very important to customer satisfaction and protection of their interests,” DoT has demanded TRAI to improve the current quality of service (QoS) through more stringent parameters,” said an official.

The source said the DoT also observed some key performance indicators while extensively examining global best practices for QoS.

“The same was shared with Trai today,” the source added.
