stepping up the fight in the fixed-line broadband segment, yo on Monday presented its entry-level broadband to plan at a price as low as Rs. 198 per month.
Named Broadband Backup Plan, the plan comes with a top internet speed of 10 megabits per second. Earlier, the minimum price to use Jio fiber connection was Rs. 399 per month.
The company also offers an opportunity to increase internet speed to 30Mbps or 100Mbps for 1 to 7 days by paying between Rs 21 and Rs 152.
“…at Jio we understand the need of customers to stay connected with reliable broadband connection at home 24/7. With JioFiber Backup we want to offer alternative reliable broadband connections for homes. This new concept of a backup connection allows homes to have an alternative Having a broadband connection with a secured data supply at an affordable price,” said the Jio spokesman.
Jio now leads the fixed line segment with 84,000 customers, accounting for a 30.6 percent market share.
A new customer has to pay Rs. 1,490 for the service, which includes usage and installation fees for five months.
Recently Jio’s rival Bharti Airtel Changes made to prepaid and postpaid cell phone plans. While Airtel raises entry-level prices in the prepaid segment, it bundles postpaid plans with high data volume, unlimited 5G data usage, etc. to woo high ARPU (average revenue per user) generating customers.
