Reliance Jio announced the launch of its True 5G services in Uttarakhand from Dehradun on Wednesday. On that occasion, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami sent a video message to congratulate Jio, the people of Uttarakhand and especially the people of Dehradun on the launch of Jio True 5G services. Aside from the existing investment of Rs. 4,950 crore, a company spokesman said Jio would invest an additional Rs. 650 crore to deploy standalone 5G network in Uttarakhand.
standalone 5G uses the 5G New Radio (NR) access network, which is a set of standards replacing the 4G wireless communication standard of the LTE network.
The company said Jio True 5G was rolled out at a rapid pace and was the only 5G service to be present in Dehradun, delivering transformative benefits of this technology to Jio users.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said: “This launch is an important milestone for Uttarakhand and its people who will benefit immensely from 5G services. yo has always been at the forefront, especially when it comes to providing cellular and data connectivity in the country.
He said, “5G will also allow citizens and government to stay connected in real-time, and will also improve the delivery and efficiency of government programs for the last-mile user.”
He commented, “Jio has robust network coverage across the state, straight from the state capital Dehradun to Mana, the last Indian village in Uttarakhand, towards the Indo-Tibetan border.”
The Prime Minister said: “Jio is the only operator in the state to be present in all Char Dhams, on the trekking route of Shri Kedarnath Dham and in Shri Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara at an altitude of 13,650 meters.”
In the statement, the Jio spokesman said, “We are pleased to launch Jio True 5G in Uttarakhand starting with Dehradun. Jio True 5G will be a real game changer for Uttarakhand, ushering in a wealth of opportunities and enriching experiences for citizens of the state as well as tourists of Uttarakhand.”
As of Wednesday, the company said that Jio users in Dehradun are invited to the Jio Welcome Offer to enjoy unlimited data with internet speed above 1Gbps at no additional cost.
