Amazon is rolling out a supply chain management service for sellers on the e-commerce giant’s platform.

Dubbed “Supply Chain by Amazon,” the service allows sellers to store their inventory in bulk across Amazon’s network of warehouses, sorts products into fulfillment centers in regions based on demand, and automatically replenishes that stock of products when it runs low. It also gives sellers discounts on storage fees and transportation and processing costs.

“Sellers simply provide product details and pickup locations and Amazon oversees the rest, including carrier pickup, inventory consolidation, strategic replenishment and placement into fulfillment centers nearest to customers, and continuous analytically-driven optimization based on demand, inventory levels, and costs,” Amazon vice president Dharmesh Mehta said in a September 18 news release.

The service will be available for U.S. sellers for domestic pickups starting in October, and then for global pickups sometime before the end of the year. Sellers will also be able to choose individual offerings with the platform, and can opt to manage aspects such as product movement on their own.
