Walmart has opened up its Walmart Cross Border ocean shipping service to companies sourcing goods in China. In an August 8 LinkedIn post from Scott Humanek, senior director of the retailer’s global inbound program, the company announced the service would now be available to all Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) sellers. WFS is a third-party marketplace for sellers initially rolled out in 2020.
Walmart Marketplace sellers can now use the retailer’s ocean shipping service to transport China-made goods to the company’s U.S. fulfillment center network, taking advantage of its negotiated container freight rates, and its customs clearance capacity.
Walmart describes Cross Border as a port-to-door, full container load freight service from China to the U.S. It is only available to WFS sellers that source or manufacture goods in China, and all cargo must be shipped from Yantian, Shanghai, or Ningbo ports.
