Assassin’s Creed Mirage is now available for purchase. Ubisoft has released a teaser image for the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Previous leaks indicated that the new title was codenamed “Rift” and was originally planned as an expansion to 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. More information on Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be revealed at the Ubisoft Forward event, which is scheduled for September 11 at 12:30 am IST in India and September 10 at 12 pm PT in the United States. The presentation will be streamed live on Ubisoft’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
Unlike previous entries in the series, the teaser image for Assassin’s Creed Mirage suggests a more traditional interpretation of the character. Our character appears to be dropping in for an assassination, dressed in the iconic white hood with the hidden blade poking through his sleeve. This is consistent with previous reports that Ubisoft is taking a back-to-basics approach with the new game. The scope will be narrower, as opposed to the recent open-world RPG-like elements that have been introduced to the franchise, to the point where it no longer feels like an Assassin’s Creed game.
The image’s background depicts a Middle Eastern setting, which corresponds to previous reports that the game will be set in Baghdad. According to Bloomberg, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a planned expansion to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The DLC was converted into a standalone game in order to fill a gap in Ubisoft’s “thin” fiscal year launch schedule. Ubisoft’s Bordeaux studio is in charge of development, which is said to be behind schedule.
A YouTuber going by the name J0nathan recently revealed some new information about Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The list confirmed the previously mentioned details, as well as some new developments. Another version of the Mirage artwork teases “The Forty Thieves Quest,” a clear reference to the classic Arabian folktale “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.” Because the image also includes large doors, one might assume it requires the “Open Sesame” password. If this leak is true, it could be a pre-order bonus or other types of DLC.
A separate Assassin’s Creed title, codenamed Project Red, leaked online in July. The game is set in feudal Japan and follows the RPG format seen in modern Assassin’s Creed games, according to people familiar with development and games reporter Jeff Grubb. Assassin’s Creed Infinity will include Project Red, which is described as Ubisoft’s live-service platform for future entries.
While there is no word on when Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released, we can expect it to be available on all current-gen platforms, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Windows PC. More information about the game and the subsequent live-service platform will be released on September 11 at the Ubisoft Forward event.
