Ms. Shimandle is the Executive Director of the Technical College Directors’ Association of Georgia (TCDA) under the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).

This honor recognizes her remarkable professional journey, notable achievements, and exceptional leadership across multiple fields. She was inducted into Marquis Who’s Who in 2024 and will appear in the 2025 edition of Who’s Who in America.

Ms. Shimandle is the Executive Director of the Technical College Directors’ Association of Georgia (TCDA) under the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). In this role, she oversees education and certification programs for local boards of directors across Georgia’s 22 technical colleges. She also spearheaded the creation of TECH Talks, an initiative that brings together pioneering entrepreneurs in disruptive technologies as the co-host of the Technical College System of Georgia Statewide Leadership Conference. These explosive new technologies and innovations are driving Georgia’s industries and workforce.

In addition to her work with TCDA, Ms. Shimandle actively advocates for technological advancements, serving as an ambassador to Georgia legislators, locally and at the federal level, and engaging in discussions on transformative innovations that enhance education and industry.

With a career spanning marketing, business analysis, project management, and education, Ms. Shimandle has made significant contributions across various industries. At Nortel Networks, she held leadership roles, including project manager for New York City Transit’s Fiber Optic Network, national marketing manager of state networks, and corporate accounts marketing manager. She also served as an employee liaison, representing Nortel at community and philanthropic events such as Southern Women in Politics, Families First, and United Way campaigns. She is a graduate of Leadership North Fulton. She created the Community Partner’s Fair for the Taste of Alpharetta, Georgia, and led Nortel volunteers in helping to construct two outdoor parks in the City of Alpharetta.

Her expertise in national marketing and fundraising was further exemplified during her tenure as Manager of Premier Relations at CARE USA.

A dedicated lifelong learner, Ms. Shimandle earned an Associate of Science degree in Education from Manatee Junior College (now State College of Florida), excelling as a collegiate athlete. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Instructional Psychology, Training, and Technology at the University of Georgia, where she achieved academic distinction and was recognized for her leadership and scholastic excellence. As a straight “A” student she was inducted into Golden Key Honor Society, UGA’s Dean’s List, and the National Scholar’s Honor Society. Ms. Shimandle was honored to be selected as one of two graduating seniors to give the graduation speech at a UGA satellite campus and was profiled in the Atlanta Journal Constitution Newspaper (2007) for her accomplishments.

In addition to her professional and educational endeavors, Ms. Shimandle contributed to her community as a board member of Habitat for Humanity North Fulton. She helped to establish the National Artificial Intelligence Institute for Adult Learning and Online Education (al-aloe.org). She resides on the executive board of AI-ALOE and assists researchers with ongoing data and advice on adult learners. In 2023, Ms. Shimandle was honored to be selected to accompany the ALOE Executive Director, Dr. Ashok Goel, a renowned researcher in cognitive science, in representing the ALOE team at the National Science Foundation Congressional Forum in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Shimandle’s work has earned her numerous accolades, including a Gold Award for Teamwork from CARE USA, multiple honors from Nortel Networks, recognition by the American Biographical Institute as one of Two Thousand Notable American Women for her white paper on distance learning and community work, awarded the Corporate Partners in Education Distinction for providing computers to Norcross Elementary School – an underserved bilingual K-5 school. She was a Gwinnett County GEMS Committee member and served as the Vice President of the Shiloh Community Foundation, where she created the Taste of Shiloh Community-wide event. She has been celebrated for her contributions to advancing optical communication systems, promoting global entrepreneurship, and supporting underserved communities.

Looking ahead, Ms. Shimandle plans to continue her advocacy for universal applications of artificial intelligence in cancer research, driven by her personal connection to the cause. She remains actively involved with AI-ALOE’s Executive Board and is committed to lobbying for increased research funding. She credits her family of five children and a marriage of 47 for their unwavering strong support of her achievements.

An accomplished golfer who has played at prestigious courses like St. Andrews, Sawgrass, Finca Cortesin in Spain, and Royal Dublin in Ireland, Ms. Shimandle balances her professional pursuits with personal passion. She is determined to make a second hole-in-one.
