Mr. Iskander has established a distinguished career in the food industry, marked by his expertise in food technology and business. With more than 35 years of experience, he currently serves as the Executive Director of food safety and quality at LIC COM LLC. In this role, he is instrumental in creating standard operating procedures, training management, designing training systems for future employees and establishing regulations regarding food safety requirements to ensure high-quality food production.
Concurrent with his primary role, Mr. Iskander has been the Chief Executive Officer of Global Experts Group LLC Since 2021. Previously, from 2011 to 2019, he was the Continuous Improvement Manager for the North America Division at Corbion, following his tenure as TPM Manager at Corbion CSM for the preceding four years. Earlier in his career, he owned a Health Food restaurant in New York and founded the Diet and Diabetic Center, where he developed food substitutes for those with dietary needs. He also served as a BRC Auditor and Instructor.
Mr. Iskander’s most notable contributions to the food industry are his work with sugar alternatives, such as developing several products for a German company, an achievement that gave him a scholarship to finish his master’s degree. After studying in Germany, American manufacturers invited him to collaborate in the United States. Throughout his career, he has secured nine international patents in diet food, but he is most proud of improving access to affordable nutrition for the underserved.
Academically, Mr. Iskander holds a PhD in food science from Oxford University, a Master of Science in food technology from Belford University and a Post Graduate Diploma in dietetics. His certifications include Certified Environmental Health and Safety Instructor, Food Defense Coordinator and a Food Safety and Quality certification, among many others.
Mr. Iskander was originally inspired to enter the food by his mother’s struggle with diabetes. This childhood experience fueled his early work in developing sugar alternatives. Now, he actively participates in Orthodox Church food events, as a proud father of his son, Esam and daughter Lilian and Mary, who has followed his footsteps and dedicated her career to Health Care service in the UK.
Acknowledging his expertise, Mr. Iskander has received recognition from the King of Spain, among various other awards. He was also honored when several Middle Eastern and European countries asked for his consultation while attempting to uphold American standards for Global food exports. He attributes much of his professional success to his passion for the industry, his talent and his blessings.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Iskander enjoys writing poetry, playing tennis, listening to classical music and spending time with his family. Looking ahead, he aims to enhance the quality of food provided to those in need, particularly focusing on feeding school children from underprivileged families. He is currently working on developing healthy snacks tailored for this demographic, reflecting his ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on society through nutrition.
