COLUMBIA, SC, July 30, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Andrew Wylam has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A client-focused, dedicated attorney with considerable expertise, Mr. Wylam currently serves as the South Carolina Government Relations Director for the American Heart Association. In this role, he plans and executes state and local public policy campaigns to advance the organization’s policy objectives, demonstrating his ability to navigate complex political landscapes. To support this work, Andrew leverages a vast advocacy network to encourage lawmakers to enact policies that promote longer and healthier lives for South Carolina residents. Most recently, Andrew was successful in securing passage of the T-CPR Training Law through the South Carolina General Assembly. This law will ensure that telecommunicators in South Carolina are trained to instruct 911 callers how to initiate CPR while they wait for emergency medical services to arrive, also referred to as “T-CPR.”

In addition to his work with the American Heart Association, Andrew is the President and co-founder of Pandemic Patients, a nonprofit patient advocacy organization for Americans affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Following the establishment of Pandemic Patients, Andrew created a national legal aid program to deliver free and reduced-cost legal services to Americans disabled by COVID-19, called Pandemic Legal. This program has achieved lifechanging outcomes for vulnerable Americans, such as getting their student loans permanently discharged, successfully appealing the wrongful denial of their disability insurance benefits, and enforcing their rights in the workplace when they become the victim of disability discrimination. At a time when the coronavirus pandemic destabilized the lives of countless Americans, Andrew dedicated his talents to charitably helping those who were most severely impacted.

Mr. Wylam’s career trajectory was marked by significant contributions to various organizations, setting the stage for his current success. In the early stages of his career, he worked as a Government Relations Manager in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Public Policy Office in Washington, D.C. During his time in the nation’s capital, Andrew also published numerous analytical health policy reports, including “A Forced Hand: How Ohio Health Systems’ Non-Medical Switching Policies Impact Physicians and Patients,” “Costly Considerations: An Analysis of Employer Priorities When Selecting Health Benefits,” and “Trouble in Paradise: Assessing the Outcomes of Payment Transformation in Hawai’i.” These early contributions reflect his dedication and expertise in patient advocacy and helped prepare him for his current success. Due to his considerable knowledge, Mr. Wylam often makes appearances as a public speaker. Andrew has delivered moving oral presentations on health equity, long COVID, disability-inclusive employment, and more.

An expert in his field, Mr. Wylam holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Virginia Commonwealth University. Subsequently, he graduated with honors from Quinnipiac University School of Law’s Health Law program in May 2014. Andrew is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association.
