Mrs. Bedlington, a distinguished procurement delivery advisor at BP plc, has dedicated more than a decade to her profession, showcasing her expertise in procurement and finance. She oversees contracting and procurement activities in her current role since 2023: collaborating with business stakeholders to forecast demand and develop strategies, establishing strong supplier relationships, and supporting contract negotiations with suppliers. Her responsibilities also include managing supplier performance, facilitating the procurement of highly specialized equipment, and ensuring suppliers are paid in accordance with their contract terms. Her familiarity with local union requirements and state laws, along with her knowledge of export compliance and international trade regulations, further underscores her proficiency in the field.
Prior to her current position, Mrs. Bedlington served as a senior performance analyst at the same firm from 2021 to 2023. In this role, she brought transparency to profit margins, enabling leadership to make effective business decisions to drive value. Before joining BP plc, she was a contract specialist at Shell for one year, and a finance analyst lead for three years. Her earlier roles at Shell included hydrocarbon accounting lead from 2013 to 2017 and inventory management site lead from 2011 to 2013. While at Shell, she played a pivotal role in implementing a major cost initiative program that aimed to save $13 million in one year. Her collaboration with various teams and workgroups was instrumental in shaping the plan’s success.
Mrs. Bedlington’s experience in government purchasing regulations and contractor management began at the Port of Bellingham from 2008 to 2011, where she was a maintenance coordinator. This was preceded by a position as a senior maintenance coordinator at Alcoa Corporation the previous year. It was at Alcoa that Mrs. Bedlington’s passion for manufacturing was launched. Her professional journey is rooted in her military service as a postal and supply leader in the U.S. Navy stationed in Sigonella, Sicily, from 2002 to 2007. Her work there was recognized with two Navy Achievement Medals.
Academically, Mrs. Bedlington holds an MBA in accounting and another master’s degree in management, both from Colorado Technical University. She is an active member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, the Women’s Network at BP plc, and vice president of the Rec Club at BP plc. She held the position of treasurer for the Military Network at the Puget Sound Refinery from 2015 to 2021 and contributed as a youth ministry teacher at Christ the King from 2017 to 2018.
In her personal life, Mrs. Bedlington enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband and three children. Overall, she attributes her success to her strong personal drive and determination, qualities instilled in her during her upbringing in a family with limited financial means. Looking ahead, she aims to complete all three exams required for CPSM certification, further solidifying her expertise in procurement.
