His Doctorate in Cellular Signaling Pathways and Regulation of Oncogenes was awarded by Karolinska Institutet in 2014.

Further showcasing his multifaceted expertise, Dr. Ghalali earned two Master’s degrees from Mälardalens University: one in Quality Assessment in Pharmaceuticals Sciences/Biotechnology and another in Cancer Prevention and Pharmacy Design both conferred in 2010. He also holds two Bachelor of Science degrees: one in Chemical Engineering and another in Biotechnology. Dr. Ghalali also holds a degree in Civil Engineering, focusing on Chemical Engineering. The presentation of his Master’s thesis publicly and in English stands out as a moment of pride for Dr. Ghalali, reflecting his commitment to excellence and communication within his field.

Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Dr. Ghalali has dedicated himself to research that hits close to home—working on childhood brain cancers at Harvard and conducting toxicological research as Assistant Professor at Karolinska Institutet that included identifying traces of chemical weapons affecting human health. This work is deeply personal due to the impact of chemical weapons on his Kurdish people during the war in Iraqi Kurdistan, which propelled him into the field of oncology research.
