Brent M. Dingle, PhD Lauded for Excellence in Software Engineering

Drawing on years of professional experience in systems architecture, engineering operations, and software engineering, Dr. Dingle excels as a systems architect and consultant with RTX. He designs and develops augmented and virtual reality applications, tools, user interfaces, and presentations. Additionally, he mentors interns and oversees hardware investigations, selection, configuration, and setup before handling software development. Over the years, Dr. Dingle worked for Raytheon as a level two senior software engineer and as an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin, Stout, where he taught courses in computer science, game design, and development.

During the early stages of his career, Dr. Dingle gained valuable expertise as a software developer with Kihon and Customer Development Corporation, a level two systems engineer with Raytheon, and a lecturer at Texas A&M University. An expert in his field, he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics from Bradley University. Subsequently, Dr. Dingle expanded his professional knowledge by completing a master’s degree in mathematics and a PhD in computer science from Texas A&M University.

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Dingle aligns himself with the Association for Computing Machinery. In light of his professional achievements, he earned a Program Excellence Award from Aviation Week Magazine in 2017 and an Excellence in Engineering Award from Raytheon Missile Systems the following year. In the ensuing years, he earned technical honors from Raytheon Intelligence & Space in 2019 and 2020. In conjunction with his work, Dr. Dingle also volunteers through Raytheon to give presentations for the Girls Who Code program.

While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Dingle takes the most pride in re-developing a generic simulation framework for missile systems while working at Raytheon and working on a project involving immersive design centers, where he successfully integrated stereoscopic displays into large visualization systems. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his strong work ethic, friends’ support, and a dash of good fortune. Dr. Dingle intends to continue his work with college students in the coming years.
