BALDWIN, WI, January 31, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — Christine Veenendall, BSN, RN, CDE, CDCES, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For more than 25 years, Ms. Veenendall found success as the Manager of the Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Program at Baldwin Area Medical Center, transitioning to a new build and new name in 2016 to Western Wisconsin Health at Baldwin Wisconsin. Prior to retirement, she specialized in educating persons with diabetes in managing their blood sugar levels as well as healthy lifestyle choices to reduce the risk of diabetes complications that are connected to poor control of glucose levels for too long. Education on medications that are cardiovascular and renally protective. With more than 48 years of experience as a Registered Nurse to her credit, Ms. Veenendall also collaborated with some wonderful endocrinologists in assisting patients with technology changes in meters, sensors and pumps.

Ms. Veenendall previously worked as a Registered Nurse in the facility in many capacities in nursing along with discharge planning and the cardio-pulmonary program. She currently excels as the founder of the diabetes education program at WWH.

In retirement she plans to continue educating Spanish speaking customers of the Pierce St. Croix Free Clinic on diabetes.

Membership in the professional organization for the diabetes educators has been an important part of her efforts. Joining in the late 90’s the local unit is known as the West Central Wisconsin American Association of Diabetes Educators. She held office as treasurer, secretary, and coordinator of the organization. Through this time the American Diabetes Association held Diabetes EXPOs in major US cities. Minneapolis was one site. WCWADE raised funds to take charter buses of persons with diabetes to the EXPO. This was accomplished over 16 years. The organization also arranged buses for the TCOVD meetings in MPLS. A trend was started, and the ADA honored this group for starting this idea. At one point there were 13 buses at one meeting. ADA felt over a million persons came to the EXPO by bus. All this was accomplished after going to the first EXPO and saying out loud,”Our patients should be at this!”

Now the professional organization is ADCES and Ms. Veenendall continues to help coordinate the local level having served as president, treasurer, membership coordinator since Inception of the Coordinating Body became the state level organization.

She is particularly proud to have played a central role in diabetes education for the patients, but also those others caring for the patients, the doctors. NP’s, PA-C’s, urgent care providers and the hospitalists. Training student providers as they come through the organization. Staying up to date is of utmost importance.
