While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in conducting a TEDx Talk about pursuing one’s dreams and passions during retirement.
NORTH POTOMAC, MD, March 25, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Connie Balcher Inukai has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A self-proclaimed “grandmapreneur®,” Ms. Inukai leverages her vast breadth of knowledge to encourage retirees and soon-to-be retirees to pursue entrepreneurship in their retirement. In addition to appearing on several podcasts, she is an author for Entrepreneur Magazine. She has written such books as “Retirement: Dream Big, Take Action, Make Money. 10 Amazing Second-Act Entrepreneurs Tell Their Stories” and “How I Got My Product on QVC, Today Show, The View & More…in Retirement,” which chronicles the development and success of her device called the Tip ‘n Split, a handheld device equipped with a magnifier and a light that helps people read the small print on menus and bills, even in dimly lit restaurants and can calculate a tip and split a bill within three seconds. Ms. Inukai’s second business emerged during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, when people worldwide were especially scared about dying. Given her age, she was at an even higher risk for contracting COVID-19 and decided she wanted to put together a memory book for her grandchildren, so they could truly get to know her in the event of her passing. As a result, Write Your Selfie was born. In just six short steps and as little as one month, anyone, young or old, can write their own story and leave a legacy for their loved ones.
Since retiring, Ms. Inukai has consistently spoken at presentations and conferences, covering topics such as reinventing yourself in retirement, her books and products, six reasons to pursue entrepreneurship in retirement, and it is never too late to follow your dreams. In 2018 and 2019, she was a guest speaker for Midlife and Beyond and served as a panelist for a panel titled “Second Act Entrepreneur: Starting Your Dream Business.” During the early stages of her career, Ms. Inukai gained valuable professional expertise in technical writing and education as a senior consultant for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the FDA. Similarly, she has held various teaching positions with the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University School of Engineering.
An expert in her field, Ms. Inukai holds a bachelor’s degree in French from The Ohio State University and a Master of Arts in linguistics from Columbia University. Subsequently, she completed business administration and management coursework at New York University. Outside of her work, she aligns herself with the Gaithersburg/Germantown Chamber of Commerce, INCA, the DC Inventors Group, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, and the Women President’s Educational Organization, Inc. Likewise, Ms. Inukai dedicates herself to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation as a fundraising volunteer.
In light of her steadfast dedication to entrepreneurship, Ms. Inukai was featured in “Take a Tip from This Entrepreneur,” in The Beacon Newspaper and on various television shows. She also won the Gold Medal for “Best New Gadget” from INPEX for her professional achievements. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in conducting a TEDx Talk about pursuing one’s dreams and passions during retirement. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to her persistence and not being afraid of a challenge. Looking ahead, Ms. Inukai intends to continue fulfilling her dreams and helping others.
