Mr. Winfield is an established professional in addiction recovery support services and the founder and executive director of 217 Recovery, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with substance use disorders, since 2019. Having established a safe and enjoyable environment so that individuals feel comfortable as they work to overcome their struggles, Mr. Winfield’s online organization offers various resources, hosts daily Recovery Support Groups, and posts dozens of inspiring videos to assist individuals in early recovery and those still in active addiction.

In addition to managing his nonprofit, Mr. Winfield hosts the 217 Recovery Podcast with his wife, Marney Winfield. Their podcast offers an extensive catalog of over 840 recorded episodes, recognized for having the highest episode count among other recovery podcasts. Inspired by his past, which included an arduous journey through alcoholism, hospitalization for renal failure, and participation in 15 treatment programs, Mr. Winfield uses his platform to share the details of recovery and his life being sober.

Leveraging his two-decade success as a radio personality, Mr. Winfield was affiliated with WIRX in Benton Harbor, Michigan, WRKR in Kalamazoo, Michigan, KSMG Cox Media Group in San Antonio, Texas, KKBN Cumulus Media in Dallas, Texas, and KKBD/KIGL in Fort Smith/Fayetteville, Arkansas for iHeart Media as a Program Director & Promotions Director. Mr. Winfield also added community relations contact and website content creator to his resume.

Among other accomplishments in the recovery sector, Mr. Winfield recently created “Recovery Stories: Message of Hope” event, which took place at the Grand Traverse Event Center and was well received. Looking toward the future, he aspires to reach a wider audience by producing his first film, organizing a comedy tour featuring recovery speakers, and launching a nationwide recovery podcast.

Besides his work in addiction recovery, Mr. Winfield has been active in his community as a Traverse City Human Rights Commissioner. He has also volunteered by providing opportunities for Certified Peer Recovery Coaches to volunteer their services through Safe Harbor of Grand Traverse and the Traverse City Cherry Festival. Additionally, Mr. Winfield has been affiliated with Faces & Voices of Recovery and the Recovery Community Organizations of Michigan.

Mr. Winfield graduated from Coloma High School in 1996 and subsequently studied theater, speech, and psychology at Lake Michigan College and business at North Central Michigan College. In light of his success, he was recognized in the Traverse City Record Eagle and was named to Who’s Who in Traverse City in 2023.
