Warrington, UK (July 11, 2023) – UK based MoltexFLEX today welcomed the appointment of one of its senior team members to a prominent role in supporting cross-sectoral collaboration for advanced nuclear technologies.
Tristram Denton, Commercial Development Director of MoltexFLEX, was elected Chair of the Nuclear Industry Association’s (NIA) new Advanced Nuclear Technology (ANT) Working Group in late June by a number of companies involved in the deployment of ANTs. The group will represent developers of ANTs, including small and advanced modular reactors, and enable those companies to speak with a single voice to government and other stakeholders about what the industry needs to thrive.
“It’s becoming increasingly important that those of us who are developing ANTs are consistent in what we offer and the circumstances that allow us to deliver it,” Denton said.
“If applied correctly, ANTs – along with GW-scale nuclear reactors – have the potential to offer lower capital costs, lower barriers to entry and deeper decarbonization, thus opening up parts of the energy sector that nuclear power has not previously supported.” This approach will ensure , that nuclear power will play the biggest role in tackling climate change while Britain secures the greatest economic opportunity.

Denton joined MoltexFLEX in January 2023 and brought extensive experience in the nuclear industry. He has worked in government relations, program execution and commercial structuring for the past 16 years. After stints at NIA and Horizon Nuclear Power, he joined Hitachi to help build the ABWR reactor. In 2019 he joined the UK Atomic Energy Agency to lead the establishment of the STEP fusion programme.
The group’s vice chair will be Chloe Fletcher, Senior Consultant for Environment and Radioactive Waste Management at inspection and certification company TÜV SÜD. “This is a crucial time for the UK nuclear industry and the formation of this working group will provide a unified voice to make focused progress towards a more sustainable future,” she said. “I look forward to working with Tris and the NIA as I believe my understanding of the challenges involved in developing the various reactor technologies and my impartiality as a senior consultant at TÜV SÜD Nuclear Technologies will provide useful support for the NIA will represent the evolution of the working group,” added Fletcher.
The formation of the ANT working group comes at a time when interest in ANTs and SMRs in general is increasing. The group’s purpose and composition were finalized at the NIA current ANT conference – the first of its kind in the UK – at the MoltexFLEX had a significant presence.
