PALMDALE, CA, January 18, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — Dezdemona M. Ginosian has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Originally from the Republic of Armenia, where Prof. Ginosian received a master’s in civil engineering with an emphasis in hydrotechnical structures, she began her career in her home country, holding various engineering positions at local companies. When she immigrated to the United States in 1995, at the age of 40, she sought out work in her field of expertise; however, despite her impressive background and her knowledge of several foreign languages, having learned German, French, and her native Russian during her high school years, her proficiency in English was not up to par to pass the necessary exams at the time. Undeterred by this initial setback, she enrolled in English as a Second Language courses to improve her proficiency.

When a local church recognized her talent and asked her to teach Armenian history, language, and culture to the children, Prof. Ginosian took up the challenge and excelled in her new role. Inspired by her passion for education, which was deeply influenced by her family’s legacy of educators, she recognized her own potential and took steps to enhance her own tutoring skills by enrolling in tutoring courses at Antelope Valley College. After earning a master tutor certification, she accepted a position as a tutor, tester, and grader for self-study mathematics at the college in 1998, a position she held for several years thereafter while she continued to improve her English.

In 2001, Prof. Ginosian stepped into the role of part-time adjunct professor to teach basic math classes at the college. For almost a decade, she worked hard to hone her teaching abilities in this new position, while continuing to fine-tune her English skills. In 2012, her determination culminated in her most significant accomplishment yet, when she was offered a full-time position as a faculty member at the college and received the title of professor of math in the Science and Engineering Division. In reflecting on her achievements overall, Prof. Ginosian attributes her success to a combination of factors: luck and the support, guidance, and influence she received from the wonderful professionals and individuals whom she met throughout her career, including her colleagues.

In witness her fellow professors’ different teaching styles, Prof. Ginosian learned and grew not only as a teacher but as an individual. Alongside her title of professor, she was honored as one of the college’s award nominees and holds membership with the American Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges. Outside of her contributions at the collegiate level, Prof. Ginosian has tutored at several local learning centers throughout the years.

Following her retirement in the next five years, Prof. Ginosian hopes to explore her other passions, particularly her interest in photography. Alongside devoting more time to this endeavor, she is keen on engaging with nonprofit organizations that encourage young girls to participate in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs. Driven by her belief in the importance of empowering young females to pursue and excel in STEM programs, Prof. Ginosian hopes to contribute toward this cause and make a positive impact.
