With over 15 years of medical experience, Dr. Jones currently serves as Medical Director of Advent Health Central Texas Behavioral Health Center. Since entering the healthcare system in 2012, he has worked with outpatient paediatricians, general practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists in the area. He has been caring for residents, scholarship holders, nurses, therapists, nurses and medical students for over nine years. During his varied experience, he has worked with numerous professionals in the field of medicine from various institutions and has managed a large number of cases. In the early stages of his career, Dr. Jones provided valuable expertise as a Chief Fellow of Baylor Scott & White Health and as Chief Resident at Howard University Hospital.
To keep abreast of changes in this field, Dr. Jones of the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Medical Association. Outside of his work, Dr. Jones contributes to his community by working and supporting universities through speaking engagements, research symposiums, and his nonprofit organization, Keeping America Healthy (KaHealthy.org), which he co-founded in 2010.
As an expert in his field, Dr. Jones received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Prairie View A&M University and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He also expanded his knowledge over the years through a residency in general psychiatry at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, Texas. He practices and continues to be a specialist in adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. In recognition of his outstanding work, Dr. Jones received two awards from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a nomination for the Resident Distinction Award from the National Medical Association, and a fellowship from the International Society of Psychiatric Genetics.
While his career has been full of highlights, the cornerstone of his success lies in his spirituality and the mentors he has had throughout his career. dr Jones is extremely proud to have been able to establish the program at Advent Health Central Texas Behavioral Health Center, where he has kept lines of communication open with outside hospitals and universities so they can send their students on to expand their learning and training. In the years to come, Dr. Jones will open a hospital and clinic, become more of an activist in the community, and continue to speak in churches and colleges about how to get on with life.
