dr Ounanian has more than four decades of experience in his chosen field and has achieved success through his work on behalf of Beaver Medical Group, one of the largest multidisciplinary medical groups in the Inland Empire region of California. With a special focus on family medicine, team building and medical informatics, Dr. Ounanian first joined the group in 2001 as Medical Director and has worked part-time as a recruiter for the organization since 2018. Prior to his current position with Beaver Medical Group, he joined San Bernardino County Medical Center, where he served as a faculty member and director of residency from 1980-1990.
Before beginning his professional career, Dr. Ounanian received formal training from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in 1972. After graduating, he continued his studies with David Geffen at the UCLA School of Medicine in 1976 and later completed his residency in family medicine at the university’s Antelope Valley campus from 1976-1979.
Outside of his main job, Dr. Ounanian President of the San Bernardino County Medical Society from 2012 to 2013. On a more personal level, he was also a member of the Elks Club and the honorable society of Phi Beta Kappa. He also enjoys hobbies such as travelling, amateur radio, skiing and bicycling.
dr Ounanian initially got involved in his job because he really enjoys being there for his patients. In this regard, he takes great pride in having made a positive impact on the lives of others. He achieved his position primarily because of his personal beliefs and commitment to exemplifying the best practices in his field, and credits much of his success to his persistence, strong work ethic, and innate passion for what he does.
Looking to the future, Dr. Ounanian to remain in medicine part-time and to spend more time with his family, including his wife Yolanda, his two children Steven and Serena, and his five grandchildren.
