She currently serves as the presidential project executive at Alamo Colleges District in San Antonio, a role she recently stepped into in 2024 after serving as president the year prior. Alongside this position, she is the founder and chief executive officer of Empowered Group Strategies LLC, a consultancy firm she established in 2016, which hinges on her desire to foster advancement opportunities for all individuals through transformative solutions that create the greatest collective impact.

Through her consultancy firm, Dr. González-De Jesús empowers individuals and organizations to remove systemic barriers to individual and organizational success metrics. She achieves this by collaborating with boards in the public, private, non-profit, faith-based, and governmental sectors. Her previous professional experience includes serving as the executive vice president of student success at the Milwaukee Area Technical College from 2020 to 2022 and making significant contributions as a public diplomacy officer for the U.S. Department of State from 2016 to 2020. Beforehand, Dr. González-De Jesús held the title of vice president of student affairs at Bergen Community College in New Jersey from 2013 to 2016.

During her tenure at Bergen Community College, Dr. González-De Jesús restructured the student affairs division, which led to the establishment of Projects Graduation, which gained national recognition for its success in supporting credential completion for students who had left the college without a college degree. Her earlier career roles include serving as the institutional team co-chair for Achieving the Dream at Bergen Community College from 2015 to 2016; associate dean of academic advising, transfer, special populations and the Educational Opportunity Fund at Rowan College at Burlington County from 2009 to 2012; and assistant dean of student services and director of the Title III grant at Salem Community College from 2005 to 2009.

Dr. González-De Jesús began her career in education as an assistant professor and counselor at the Community College of Philadelphia, where she worked from 2002 to 2005. In tandem with her professional experience, she earned several higher education degrees. In 2012, she received a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial and organizational psychology from Northcentral University and additionally holds a Master of Arts in student personnel services from Rowan University, which she obtained in 2001, and a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from The Pennsylvania State University, which she completed in 1998. Additionally, Dr. González-De Jesús has a certificate in theological and ministerial studies from Global University, which was awarded to her in 2019.

For her contributions, Dr. González-De Jesús has been honored with the 2024 Woman of the Year Award from the Diversity Council of Texas and Eagle Awards from the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A member of the International Women’s Forum through the San Antonio Chapter in 2024, her leadership was instrumental as member of boards such as the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southeastern Wisconsin, 1812ADA, and the Hispanic Educational Technology Services editorial board. Additionally, she volunteered with Damas Rosadas, a group of women who served as volunteers at hospitals throughout Buenos Aires, Misión Fundación Sorocaba in Buenos Aires, and churches throughout the U.S.

Overall, Dr. González-De Jesús attributes her success to three key factors: her unwavering commitment to her faith and values, the resilience demonstrated by her mother who overcame domestic violence while raising three children as a single parent, and the steadfast support of her husband and children during her pursuit of her advanced degrees and expansive career. Such personal influences have shaped her core identity and driven her professional achievements.

Looking ahead, González-De Jesús will continue to emphasize her diplomatic skill sets through writings and public speaking engagements that highlight lessons learned as higher education administrator and foreign service diplomat.
