Mr. Liegel has carved a successful career as an agronomist with Edward A. Liegel & Associates Inc., where he has served since 1986. In this role, he samples soil for nutrient content and maps soils to show growers what soils they have in their fields. He also provides pre-season plans, which include recommendations in tillage, seed varieties, pesticide use and manure use. Moreover, every two weeks he inspects the fields of his clients to ascertain the quality of their crops.

Prior to his current role at Edward A. Liegel & Associates Inc., Mr. Liegel held various positions, including seed advisor at Syngenta from 2012 to 2017 and professional sales representative at Pioneer Hi-Bred International from 1998 to 2012. Earlier in his career he was the general manager and director of agronomic services at Central Cooperative of Sauk City from 1977 to 1986 and the director and extension soil specialist at Wisconsin State Soil from 1975 to 1981.

Mr. Liegel holds a Master of Science in soil science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which he obtained after earning a bachelor’s degree from the same institution. His academic background has been instrumental in his professional success, and he attributes his achievements to his listening skills and a photographic memory.

Born and raised on a dairy farm, Mr. Liegel initially aspired to become a medical doctor, but switched to soil science in his last year of undergraduate school. This decision led him to a fulfilling career, where he has been able to make significant contributions to the field of agronomy.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Liegel is one of six founders of a hemp company and has engaged in a wealth of litigation work as an expert witness on behalf of attorneys in the area. He is also the proud father of four children and enjoys fishing and hunting in his spare time. Looking ahead, Mr. Liegel plans to continue working for five more years due to the mental and physical benefits it provides him.
