In his current role as an accounts receivable finance manager for Amazon’s federal partners, Mr. Orndorff focuses on systemic ways to improve operations and oversee budget.

As a thought and change leader, Mr. Orndorff fosters the work of cross-functional business and technical teams to maximize free cash flow and identify and resolve points of friction in the order-to-cash process. Moreover, he utilizes data from various sources to provide actionable insights for decision makers, influence financial strategy, and drive operational performance while delivering exceptional customer service. Prior to stepping into his current role at Amazon, Mr. Orndorff earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point and went on to gain vast and unique experience in the United States Army and in various government sectors.

Serving for nearly 25 years in the Army, Mr. Orndorff held the title of platoon leader, operations officer, and instructor, among other positions of impact and note. During his active service in the Army, he was deployed to Iraq, where he was in charge of 160 soldiers, and received two Bronze Stars for his service. He then went on to apply his skill set to serve in several consultant and directorial positions across various government sectors.

After graduating with Dean’s List honors and a Master of Public Administration from The John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Mr. Orndorff served as a congressional fellow and defense consultant in the U.S. House of Representatives and in other bodies within Congress as a legislative assistant, director of legislative affairs, and deputy director, among other positions. In reflecting on his career, he cites one of his most significant accomplishments as his tenure in the office of management and budget. During that period of time, he received a Master of Science in operations research from the Naval Postgraduate School and went on to work as one of four analysts responsible for assessing the Department of Defense’s budget before it moved up the ranks to be presented at the White House for inclusion in the president’s budget and then submitted to Congress.

As a result of his time working for the largest government agency, Mr. Orndorff holds top secret and sensitive compartmented information clearance with a counterintelligence polygraph. With nearly 10 years of experience working as a direct report to C-suite executives, where he developed a unique ability to establish relationships and foster cross-functional partnerships, he went on to join Amazon Web Services in 2022 through the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship. After working as a data analyst and artificial intelligence and machine learning consultant, he promptly stepped into the role of technical program manager before assuming his current position of financial operations manager.

Outside of his managerial role at Amazon, Mr. Orndorff volunteers as an official for USA Swimming, an opportunity he has enjoyed since 2018. In all he has accomplished over the course of his impressive career, he attributes his success to his unwavering drive and passion; he possesses a tenacity that drives him to tackle any task he takes on and follow through with a steady, enthusiastic commitment until he achieves his goals. Looking forward, Mr. Orndorff aspires to hold an executive senior management position, through which he can generate jobs and offer assistance to veterans seeking employment and aims to invest in real-estate with the objective of providing homes for Section 8 housing and wounded veterans.
