An accomplished emergency room and intensive care unit nurse with years of expertise, Ms. Anderson is the registered nurse lead educator at North Memorial EMS Professional Education, where she teaches critical care courses involving adult and pediatric life support (ACLS, PEARS, PALS, BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Suppo1t for the Experienced Provider (ACLS EP), and adult and pediatric trauma, and EMS classes. She coordinates the Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition Stabilization (PEARS), Advanced Cardiac Life Supp01t for Experienced Providers (ACLS EP), Advanced Trauma Life Suppo1t (ATLS), and Emergency Nurses Association (TNCC, ENPC) classes for North Memorial EMS Education.
Alongside her work as an educator, she works casually as a nurse with Favorite Healthcare Staffing, through which she has served in the emergency room, adult and pediatric ICU, pediatrics, PACU, and more. During the many years of her career, Ms. Anderson gained valuable expertise as an educator with Regions and HCMC EMS Education and as a nurse with Illini Hospital, HSHS St John’s Hospital, Regions Hospital, and Abbott No1thwestern Hospital.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Blessing Rieman College of Nursing in 1995. Subsequently, she expanded her knowledge by earning an EMT and DOT certifications. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the Greater Twin Cities Emergency Nurses Association, the Greater Twin Cities American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the National Association of EMS Educators. In conjunction with her work, Ms. Anderson dedicates herself to her community through the Order of the Eastern Stars, Daughters of the Nile, Relay for Life, Emergency Nurses Association Injury Prevention Educational events, and assisting with the St. Paul Fire-EMS Academy.
In recognition of her professional achievements, Ms. Anderson was recognized as Preceptor of the Year by Regions Hospital and, through the Minnesota Emergency Nurses Association, received the Deanna Earl Award and the Mary Piner Award. Though her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in achieving her goals and growing as a nurse, educator, and mentor. The cornerstone of her success lies in being inspired by her grandmother, two aunts, and a neighbor, all nurses.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Anderson aims to provide high-quality education to the students enrolled in courses at North Memorial EMS Education by increasing their knowledge and skills they can take back to their practice to provide high-quality patient care. Ms. Anderson strives to educate and mentor nurses and EMS personnel as her mentors have for her and continue to work on the family-work-life balance.
