MENLO PARK, CA, October 16, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — James Vincent Eade is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who’s Who. He was recently spotlighted in New York City’s Times Square on a 22-story screen that is passed by an estimated 1.5 million people daily. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing inspiration from the example of renowned figures like Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr., Mr. Eade has distinguished himself as the chief executive officer at the Eade Foundation since 2019. Leveraging his profound and comprehensive expertise in chess, he is committed to fostering chess literacy in disadvantaged communities across the globe. The Foundation’s philanthropic endeavors encompass the distribution of chess boards and the provision of complimentary lessons to budding enthusiasts. In a bid to bolster its mission of philanthropy and the propagation of chess literacy, the foundation confers the Arthur Award, a $1,000 accolade named in tribute to Mr. Eade’s father, who kindled his interest in the game during his formative years.
Driven by a wish to reciprocate the support he received from his community during his early years, Mr. Eade set out on a mission to orchestrate chess tournaments in the 1990s. His endeavors reached a pinnacle with the distinguished 1995 Pan Pacific International Chess Tournament, clinched by the Russian chess virtuoso Viktor Korchnoi, and the equally esteemed 1996 Hall of Fame Tournament.
Mr. Eade’s dedication to chess transcended the boundaries of tournaments. He took on pivotal leadership positions with several prominent organizations, serving as a policy board member for the U.S. Chess Federation (USCF), the president of the American zone of the International Chess Federation, and the president of the U.S. Chess Trust. Furthermore, he made substantial contributions in his capacity as the president of the Chess Journalists of America, the Northern California Chess Federation and the Kolty Chess for Youth Foundation.
Amplifying Mr. Eade’s significant contributions to the world of chess has been his work as an author. He is the author of the well-regarded beginner’s guide to the game, “Chess for Dummies,” which released in 1996. He also authored “The Chess Player’s Bible: Illustrated Strategies for Staying Ahead of the Game” in 2004 and “Chess Openings for Dummies” in 2010. Additionally, he is the former head of Hypermodern Press, a publishing company that printed and released several high-profile works by other chess writers.
Highly regarded for his invaluable contributions to the chess fraternity, Mr. Eade was conferred with the title of Chess Educator of the Year by the University of Texas at Dallas in 2016. Likewise, he was bestowed with an Outstanding Career Achievement Award from the USCF in 2018. In recognition of his continued excellence, he received the Chess Journalist of America Award for Best Chess Website in 2022.
Initially studying history at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1978, Mr. Eade subsequently received a Master of Arts in human resources management and organization development from the University of San Francisco in 1991.
In 2023, Mr. Eade pivoted away from writing about chess to his newfound advocacy for mental health and personal growth. In addition to the publication of “Freedom: Your Road to Recovery,” a self-help book that encourages readers to free themselves from unhelpful patterns of thought, he has hosted several new video programs. Among them is “Change Your Mind,” a series that features interviews with various guests and serves as a forum for open debate and consensus building, as “Calm Down,” a video series by Edge Studios that seeks to help those struggling with recovery from drug addiction find tools and techniques that can help them cope. “Change Your Mind” and “Calm Down” can both be found on Mr. Eade’s YouTube channel.
Committed to advocating for self-care in the future, Mr. Eade credits his accomplishments to his capacity for focus, his unwavering determination, and his resilience in the face of challenges.
