James Vincent Eade shared his professional achievements and industry expertise in Forbes

Having received his first chess master title in 1981, Mr. Eade went on to help organize several tournaments, including the Pan Pacific International Chess Tournament and the Hall of Fame Tournament.

MENLO PARK, CA, February 14, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — James Vincent Eade, founder and chief executive officer of The Eade Foundation and author of “Freedom: Your Path to Recovery,” was selected by Marquis Who’s Who for a prominent feature in the San Francisco, California, regional edition of Forbes.

Popular author, recognized chess master and dedicated humanitarian, Mr. Eade has earned distinction for his work as the founder and chief executive officer of the Eade Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a mission to share the game and knowledge of chess with underprivileged communities. Founded in 2019, the foundation donates chess sets worldwide, focusing on nations such as Uganda, Zambia and South Africa. Having received his first chess master title in 1981, Mr. Eade went on to help organize several tournaments, including the Pan Pacific International Chess Tournament and the Hall of Fame Tournament.

Mr. Eade initially served as a senior systems programmer for AT&T and Charles Schwab from 1981 to 1991, after which he entered the publishing field as the head of Hypermodern Press. The firm struck out as a pioneer during the emergence of the internet as a publisher of ebooks. Capitalizing on Mr. Eade’s laudable reputation in the game of chess, most of the books published through Hypermodern focused on the subject, including “The Chess of Bobby Fischer” and “Modern Chess Brilliancies.” Additionally, Mr. Eade wrote a popular guide on the game, “Chess for Dummies,” in 1996, which seeks to demystify the game for neophytes. Outside of his other works regarding chess, including “Chess Openings for Dummies” in 2010, he published “Freedom Your Path to Recovery” in 2023, a title that intends to help empower those recovering from addiction.

Following Hypermodern’s closure in 1999, Mr. Eade served as a trustee for the U.S. Chess Trust until 2019, when he rose to become the organization’s president. Other commitments to his credit have included his tenure on the U.S. Chess Federation’s (USCF) policy board and as a past president of the American zone of the International Chess Federation, the Northern California Chess Association, the Kolty Chess for Youth Foundation, and the Chess Journalists of America.

EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS

Mr. Eade studied at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and received a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1978. Years later, he went on to undertake coursework in human resources management and organizational development at the University of San Francisco, from which he graduated with a Master of Arts in 1991.

AWARD HIGHLIGHTS

Over the course of his career, Mr. Eade has been bestowed with such accolades as the Chess Educator of the Year by the University of Texas at Dallas, an Outstanding Career Achievement Award by the USCF, and a Best Chess Website Award (for the Eade Foundation website: https://eadefoundation.org) by the Chess Journalists of America in 2022.
