As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An accomplished nonprofit professional, Ms. Alexander is recognized for excellence in her role as president and chief executive officer of the Community Foundation for Mississippi, an organization that collaborates with individuals and nonprofits to achieve enduring change in communities through inclusive philanthropic leadership. Since stepping into this role in 2012, she has paved the way for significant organizational growth, tripling the asset size of the foundation and transforming its corporate culture into a welcoming and appreciative environment for staff and donors alike.

Among Ms. Alexander’s greatest professional strengths is her ability to build and leverage effective partnerships. Using these skills, she has succeeded in building a board at the Community Foundation for Mississippi that truly grasps the importance of their mission; doing so has effectively shifted the nonprofit from a transactional model to a transformational one. Other achievements during her tenure include the launch of a successful Mississippi Book Festival project, strengthening Jackson Public Schools, remediating blight in challenged regions of the state, and leveraging unrestricted funds to create an operating endowment for the foundation.

Prior to joining the Community Foundation for Mississippi, Ms. Alexander held a marketing and branding position for Smith Shellnut Wilson, LLC, and was a partner at Hoylake Collection. Earlier in her career, she held roles with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Mississippi Easter Seal Society, Mississippi College, and Mississippi Magazine.

An accomplished scholar, Ms. Alexander holds a Master of Arts in journalism from the University of Mississippi and a Bachelor of Arts in history from Millsaps College. She completed post-graduate study in comparative politics at King’s College and in medieval history and culture at St. John’s College, Oxford University. She is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). In addition to her education, Ms. Alexander credits her achievements to her upbringing; she thanks her parents, Charles Chandler Clover and Lois Smith Clover, for instilling the values of civic engagement and community service in her from a young age.

In the coming years, Ms. Alexander is determined to continue the growth trajectory of the community foundation. She is aware of the region’s great needs and is excited to lead the foundation’s reach into more rural counties, where they will focus on capturing generational wealth. In addition to her current pursuits, she looks forward to spending time with her husband and daughters and to obtaining the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy certification offered by the American College of Financial Services.
