As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A seasoned leader with years of professional experience in public finance, and applied micro and macroeconomics, Dr. Stotsky excels as an independent consultant specializing in women and development, as well as public policy. In recent years, she published “Using Fiscal Policy and Public Financial Management to Promote Gender Equality: International Perspectives,” and an Asian Development Bank guide and eCourse on the same topic, reflecting her dedication to advocating for women in development.
Before becoming an independent industry consultant, Dr. Stotsky was an adviser for the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Between 1993 and 2014, she led IMF program negotiating missions and technical assistance work and contributed to the development of the IMF’s internal budget and worked with its executive board. She also served on the board of advisors of the IMF’s publication, Finance and Development. Witnessing the many challenges faced by women in developing countries, she organized the first IMF conference on gender and macroeconomics and spearheaded a project that assessed and surveyed the use of fiscal policies and public financial management to promote gender equality, which was the basis for her book. During the early stages of her career, Dr. Stotsky gained valuable economic and educational expertise in various roles with the U.S. Treasury and Rutgers University.
An expert in her field, Dr. Stotsky earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Princeton University, from which she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Subsequently, she expanded her professional knowledge by completing a PhD in economics at Stanford University. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in obtaining her doctoral degree and positively impacting the field of public policy, specifically regarding fiscal policies and gender equality. Personally, Dr. Stotsky is proud of her large family and her volunteer work for a variety of organizations.
Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Dr. Stotsky credits her success to her stellar public education in Brookline, Massachusetts, her parents’ steadfast support, and her education at Princeton and Stanford. Looking toward the future, Dr. Stotsky intends to continue advocating for women in development.
