After studying horticulture and landscape architecture, Mr. Laws’ formal career began in 1996. Since then, he has been part of the initial planting, continual maintenance, and consultation of thousands of commercial and residential projects. He received his International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) arborist certification in January 2001. He was recognized for his commitment to excellence in 2021 when he was named Certified Arborist of the Year in the State of Utah.

In the past 30 years, Mr. Laws has served as landscape installation manager at Bratt Landscape, landscape maintenance manager at Elite Grounds, and head arborist, trainer, and manager at Stratton & Bratt Landscape. He leverages his expertise in plants, floriculture, plant and flower design, pruning, and tree healthcare to manage large maintenance clients and oversee smaller property enhancements. Additionally, he conducts tree health care evaluations. His dedication to the field is further evidenced by his previous role as a co-host of “Early Bird Gardening Hour” on KLO 1400 AM radio, where he contributed between 2011 and 2012.

Mr. Laws has made significant contributions through various projects and publications. He was filmed and quoted on several TV news programs, including KSL 5 and ABC 4 news. He was highlighted in Strategies to Make That Green Lawn Last a Little Longer into the Hot Summer in April 2022 and was featured in Lawn & Landscape magazine article, Plants and Process, Focus on Water: Xeriscaping in July 2022. He holds membership with the Utah Nursery & Landscape Association, the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), and the National Association of Landscape Professionals, and he has certification as a master gardener. Today, he continues to consult on the proper establishment and design of the urban forest.

Beyond his professional endeavors and accolades, he is actively involved in various civic-minded organizations and activities. He volunteers regularly and shares his expertise with neighbors and his church community. He has also served for fifteen years as the parent president of the ballroom dance association at his local high school.

Overall, Mr. Laws’ passion for horticulture and dedication to sharing his knowledge with others has made him a respected figure in his field.
