Dr. Brown’s educational career has been marked by multiple accomplishments and awards, beginning with his earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with high distinction from the University of Rochester, where he also was elected to Phi Beta Kappa; a Master of Public Health in business administration and management from the University of California, Berkeley, where he also won the Bennett Prize in Political Science; an MD and Russell Sage fellow in medicine and behavioral science at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, where he was awarded the Stanford Medical Association Alumni and Dean Alway Awards; and a psychiatric residency at Yale Medical School, where he was awarded the Lustman Research Award. From there, he worked in academia and clinical medicine, including at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, Yale Medical and Divinity Schools, as attending staff at Natividad Hospital in California, and at Saint Barnabas Hospital in New Jersey. Subsequently, he co-founded Cogent Systems, was on the executive board of MedSonics, was group medical director for the Prudential Insurance Company and was chief executive officer of the Hospital Planning and Rescue Company, as well as Quality Health International, Inc. and the Professional Recovery Network.
As he progressed through his career, Dr. Brown took on roles of increasing responsibility, including his being chief executive officer for Quality Health International, Inc., chief psychiatric consultant for Connecticut’s Department of Children and Youth Services, and management consultant to multiple national and international organizations in behavioral medicine, law and health care management.
Dr. Brown’s commitment to community service is as strong as his professional endeavors. He has served as a volunteer for the New Jersey Diabetes Association, the New Jersey Community Health Law Project, among many others.

He is most proud of his 20-year tenure as a volunteer clinical professor at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where he taught both medical and law students.
