Backed by years of professional experience in nursing. Ms. Cody-Schwartz excels as the regional perioperative director for Kaiser Permanente. She began with Kaiser Permanente in 2006, helped open a new hospital in 2008, and helped open a replacement hospital in 2012. She then transitioned to a regional position in 2017 where she maintains the responsibility for strategic planning for 17 hospitals and 12 SurgiCenters. Before obtaining her current role, she worked for two years as the perioperative director for Chapman Medical Center. During the early stages of her career, Ms. Cody-Schwartz gained valuable experience which led her to become the perioperative director at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach.

As expert in her field, Ms. Cody-Schwartz became a registered nurse through Cypress College in 1987. Subsequently, she expanded on her professional knowledge, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Fullerton, a Master’s Degree in Nursing and Education from the University of Phoenix, a Certification as an Operating Room Nurse (CNOR), and a Certification in Surgical Services Management (CSSM).

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Cody-Schwartz aligns herself with the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN), Association of Operating Room Nurse Executives, Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL), and the American Organization for Nurse Leadership (AONL). In conjunction with her work, she contributes to those less fortunate through Fix N Fidos, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, ALS, and is on the board for Cal Poly Pomona Women in Leadership Certification Program.

While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Cody-Schwartz is proud of opening two hospitals, which are a testament to her drive to enhance patient care and provide better quality healthcare. Another standout moment has been implementing a software program to track the tissues they implant in their patients. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to the mentors who recognized her potential. Looking ahead, Ms. Cody-Schwartz will return to teaching and positively impact the lives of her future students.
