NEW YORK, December 26, 2022 /24-7press release/ — Joan Ava Gillman, educator and research specialist at the Browning School, has been selected for a cover feature in the tenth issue of Marquis Millennium Magazine. Millennium Magazine is published every three years and features narrative biographies of the world’s most respected and accomplished professionals. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Education, summa cum laude, from Felician University in 1980 and a Master of Arts in Education from New York University in 1982, Joan Ava Gillman began her career as a fifth grade teacher at St. Angela Merici School after receiving her Masters degree. During her extensive teaching career in both public and private schools, she has served as a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Joytown Kent Elementary School, as a language, arts and social studies teacher at the Bede School, and as a teacher of humanities at the Professional Children’s School in New York City fourth, fifth and sixth grade in all academic subjects. She remained in that role for a staggering 20 years, then served as a fourth and fifth grade science teacher at Anna C. Scott Elementary School and as a fifth and sixth grade math and science teacher at Yeshivat Noam. She previously spent a decade as a fifth and sixth grade science teacher at the Calhoun School, and since 2018 has thrived as a science specialist at the Browning School, where she works directly with elementary and middle school students.
