Prior to her current role, Ms. Chen was a critical care nurse at Mount Sinai Morningside from 2020 to 2021, after serving at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital the previous year. Her career also includes a tenure at NYC Health and Hospitals Lincoln from 2017 to 2019, where she was recognized with the Patient Safety Champion Award for her commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Chen contributed to several organizations as a critical care and registered nurse since beginning her career in 2012, including Jacobi Medical Center, the Chang Bing Show Chwan Memorial Hospital, Kuang Tien General Hospital’s Department of Otolaryngology and the Kaohsiung Municipal Da-Tung Hospital. Throughout her career, she has remained abreast of developments in her industry through membership in the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
Ms. Chen’s educational background includes both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Queen’s University Belfast, completed in 2011 and 2009 respectively. She also holds an Associate of Science in Nursing from Fooyin University, earned in 2008. In addition, she is certified as a Critical Care Registered Nurse and holds Verified International Academic Qualifications from World Education Services.
Ms. Chen’s commitment to restoring patients’ health is deeply rooted in personal experiences that inspired her journey into nursing. Her father, who was a dentist, was hospitalized during the SARS outbreak in 2003 due to complications from diabetes and pneumonia, passing away after contracting a cross-infection in the hospital. Through this experience, Ms. Chen saw the critical need for effective communication and treatment and she became a nurse to ensure that others receive the care they need.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Chen is actively involved in civic-minded organizations as a blood donor and sponsor for Children International. In her free time, she enjoys painting, camping and hiking. In the upcoming years, she aspires to enroll in an anesthesiology nurse program, with ambitions of potentially pursuing law school or transitioning into an educational role within the field of anesthesiology and critical care.
