In this capacity, he secured the first FIU/Department of Energy IP2Mkt Hospitality and Technology Incubator, created the Dania Beach Business Academy serving 2,000 small businesses from seven countries, and led the At Home Dania Beach Residential Beautification Program. Previously, Mr. Chen managed over 20 state Qualified Target Industry projects as the economic and economic development manager for the City of Fort Lauderdale.

During the early stages of his career, Mr. Chen gained valuable expertise in the field as the president of Urban Development and Mobility Solutions, director of urban development for the City of Tampa, director of development services for the Village of Oak Park, and an adjunct professor at Xavier University. Likewise, Mr. Chen has honed his expertise in strategic planning, finance, project management, and more in executive roles with Corporex Companies, Japan Development and Construction Co., Osborne Engineering, and Liberty National Bank.

Before establishing himself professionally, Mr. Chen earned a Bachelor of Science in commerce and finance from the University of Louisville. Subsequently, he expanded his professional knowledge by completing a Master of Science in quality management from the University of Miami and a certificate in economic development practice and management from the University Economic Development Institute. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Chen aligns himself with several organizations, including the International Economic Development Council, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Florida Redevelopment Association, and the U.S. Green Building Council, to name a few.

In light of his professional achievements, Mr. Chen received an Outstanding Service Recognition from the Village of Oak Park, a Chairman’s Certificate of Merit though the Japan Development and Construction Company, and a Chairman’s Award, Award of Excellence, and Award of Merit through the Tampa-Hillsborough County Planning Commission. Similarly, he was honored by the International Economic Development Council with the Gold Award of Excellence. While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Chen takes the most pride in his tenure with Japan Development and Construction Co., through which he developed a $9 billion real estate portfolio.

Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Chen credits his success to his steadfast work ethic and the reputation he has established over the years. During the next five to ten years, he intends to experience his career’s continued growth and success.
