Ms. Boomer-Grupp has led a distinguished career in the health care field for over 50 years. As a clinical laboratory scientist assistant, and a licensed phlebotomist, she has been affiliated with Adventist Health Howard Memorial since 1971. In addition to her main priorities as a CLS assistant, Ms. Boomer-Grupp is a purchasing coordinator and QC inventory coordinator.
Having worked in the same laboratory her entire career, Ms. Boomer-Grupp notably spent the first 30 years of her training and career working under mentor Dr. Joseph A. Stetz Jr. Initially hired to work at the hospital at 16, her roles and responsibilities have continually changed. She has worked as a phlebotomist, histologist, media preparation expert, specimen processor, pathologist assistant for bone marrow sampling, and autopsy assistant. Ms. Boomer-Grupp has also garnered extensive expertise in specimen processing, quality control, and product maintenance, among other areas of the field.
Among her most notable accomplishments in her field, Ms. Boomer-Grupp was instrumental in implementing a CLS assistant program at her hospital and its sister location. The decision came after the laboratories were experiencing staffing issues.
Well-qualified in her field, Ms. Boomer-Grupp holds credentials as a licensed phlebotomist. In light of her accomplishments, she received a Bank of America Award in Mathematics and Science and a Bosch and Laumb Science Award from Willits High School. Ms. Boomer-Grupp also won a Howard Hero Award and a Presidential Medal from Adventist Health Howard Memorial.
