Her tenure at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island also included serving as a medical policy analyst and ClaimsXten analyst from 2015 to 2017, where she was instrumental in developing and implementing medical policies that ensured accurate claim payments.

Ms. Cousino’s career in the health care industry began with roles that provided her with foundational knowledge and skills, including positions as a HEDIS coordinator at Centene Corporation from 2014 until 2015, a senior care options navigator at Fallon Health from 2012 until 2014 and a care adviser at Caregiver Homes in 2012. She previously worked as a program coordinator and referral specialist at Centene Corporation from 2011 to 2012, as well as a medical assistant and medical records specialist at RI Colorectal Clinic between 2007 and 2011.

Ms. Cousino’s early career experience at a physician’s office, where she volunteered to assist with the transition from paper medical records to an electronic system, stands out as a significant achievement. Laying the groundwork for Ms. Cousino’s professional success is academic background. She earned an Associate of Science in medical and health management in 2007 and an associate degree in health, health care administration and management from the Penn Foster College in 2017. She subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts in health, health care administration and management from the University of Arizona in 2021 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree from the same institution.

Ms. Cousino has been certified as a Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) since 2018 and previously earned her Certified Coding Associate certification in 2015.
